For all the work that went into making this an unorthodox guide (with chapters that you can seemingly just pick up and read in any order), the book really shines when it’s a memoir, when the author digs deep into his experience to provide context and anecdotes to support his guidance.

There’s fascinating insider info on his Apple experience (that fact that he had already been ready with the idea of mp3 music player, tried building and failed before getting hired), Google’s acquisition of Nest and how that didn’t go according to plan and other such insights.
